About the Piece
ZOOG is a glimpse into a moment between two acrobats, a routine, a ritual. It is an intense game of love and hate, an endless pursuit of togetherness, an exchange of cruelty and tenderness. Through their bodies, the two share their intimate story – the highs and the lows, the hidden, the complex and the joyous that lies in the foundation of any relationship. Using a unique movement language which they developed, influenced by Capoeira, parkour and dance, Amir and Hemda embark on a physical adventure that is honest, raw, full of charm and humor. Pulling, pushing, twisting and flying, they break gender norms by not conforming to the traditional roles in partner acrobatics. The two, while different in their personality and interpretation, exist with equal strength on stage. They welcome imperfections and mistakes, challenging themselves, each other and the audience by pushing their limits, overcoming obstacles together, constructing and deconstructing their bond every day a new.
